A continuous angle secured to foundation to support wall panels.
The distance between the main frames or from an end frame to a main frame measured parallel to the ridge.
A projecting beam extending out from the sidewall that is supported and restrained at one end only.
A Clear Span building does not have any internal columns and therefore offers immense unobstructed storage areas and maximizes usable space.
A resilient strip, formed to the contour of the inside or outside panel ribs to protect against weather.
A vertical structural member. Alpine Steel Buildings offers both straight and tappered columns.
The CSA-A660 Standard requires that the manufacturers’ production facilities, staff and quality assurance systems be certified by an independent certification agency. As part of the CSA-A660 compliance, the manufacturer will provide a “Certificate of Design and Manufacturing Conformance” signed and sealed by a licensed Professional Engineer for each building project.
A tapered pin used during erection to align holes in steel members to be bolted
The line along the top of the sidewall formed by the intersection of the roof and sidewall.
A bracing member used to provide lateral support to the flange of a beam or column.
A light gauge metal trim which provides a weather seal and which also enhances the appearance of the building corners, gable line, eave line and around openings.
The triangular portion of the endwall that slopes from the top corner of the eave line to the peak. A gabled building has a roof sloping in two sidewalls.
Galvalume Plus is an aluminum-zinc coated steel that provides extra corrosion protection. The cost of Galvalume Plus is about the same as that of galvanized steel.
Galvalume Plus offers the best qualities of aluminum-coated (aluminized) and zinc-coated (galvanized) steels. It has barrier corrosion resistance and heat resistance similar to aluminized and good bare edge galvanic protection and forming qualities like galvanized. So, Galvalume Plus will resist rust, the elements and fire while providing a sturdy and protective covering.
Galvalume Plus offers these advantages over galvanized at no extra cost on a per square foot basis:
Galvalume Plus coating is an alloy composed of 55% aluminum and 45% zinc by weight. The coating is metallurgically bonded to both sides of high quality cold rolled steel sheet using a precise continuous hot-dip coating process. The result is a highly corrosion resistant coated steel that combines the barrier protection and extended durability of aluminum with the galvanic protection of zinc.
A horizontal structure member that is attached to sidewall or endwall columns and supports the wall sheeting.
A horizontal framing member located at the top of a framed opening.
The vertical framing members located at the sides of an opening.
A horizontal structural member attached to the primary frame and which supports the roof sheeting.
Main beam supporting the roof system.
The roof's pitch is the measured vertical rise divided by the measured horizontal span, also refered to as a slope (Rise over Run). For example a building with a roof pitch of 1:12, the roof rises 1" for every 12" from eave to peak.
Signature 200 is our standard modified siliconized polyester paint system. Signature 200 offers optimum exterior protection and resistance to chemical corrosion and ultraviolet radiation. This coating also offers excellent chalk, fade and mar resistance.
See our Color Chart for color options.
Signature 300 is our premium fluorocarbon paint system. Signature 300 coating is formulated with Kynar 500/Hylar 5000 polyvinyulidene fluoride resin and modified with a proprietary resin for toughness. This long-life finish offers the ultimate in color retention, film flexibility and durability.
A building having a roof sloping in one direction from sidewall to sidewall.
The underside covering of any exterior portion of a building such as an overhang.
